Liya Kebede Partners With Designer Jeweler David Yurman To Support Maternal Health In Ethiopia

For the second year in a row, famed jeweler, David Yurman will partner with Ethiopian supermodel, Liya Kebede?to support maternal health in Ethiopia. Through the Liya Kebede Foundation, up to five percent of retail and online sales will go towards the provision of maternal health services, including additional training for healthcare workers in hospitals and maternity health centers.?While great strides have been made to reduce the incidence of maternal mortality, particularly through community based methods, Ethiopia still maintains one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world, with 420 mothers out of 100,000 dying while giving birth.

In an interview with Departures magazine, Kebede provided more information about her foundation and what it hopes to accomplish through its partnership with David Yurman.
