5 Reasons Why Trevor Noah Will Make A Great Host Of ‘The Daily Show’
On March 30, 2015, Comedy Central announced the new face of its hit show?”The Daily Show”. South Africa’s Trevor Noah?will succeed Jon Stewart as the new host, who?announced his departure in February this year. Noah has received the stamp of approval from Stewart . “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor,” Stewart said in a statement. “He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with.” While South Africans are incredibly excited about his selection, the move has come with mixed reactions from fans of the show in the United States. And just as Trevor perfectly stated in his response to his selection, we agree that he will never replace Jon Stewart (as he shouldn’t), but we do believe that he is the best man for the job for five reasons:
He represents a diverse United States The United States has become a melting pot and is considered to be the most culturally diverse nation in the world. As an increasing number of individuals attempt to relate to this diversity by encouraging inclusiveness, Noah?s presence on American television may help facilitate the process. Race and ethnicity in the US will continue to be touchy subjects in many spheres, but now, maybe we can learn to laugh about it.
Because new talent is a good thing Trevor Noah is a relatively unknown name in the American comedy circuit, but he is expected to deliver. Tried and true may be the standard when it comes to continuity, but in the world of entertainment, bringing on a young, new face can often be a good thing. Just ask Lupita N?yongo.
Spotlight on Africa Well for one, there will be a mad rush back home to claim the beloved South African. Parting is such sweet sorrow, particularly as his presence in country will be greatly decreased. Trevor?s move, however, may be a great thing for South Africa and the continent as a whole. Noah taking on what many recognize as one of the most powerful positions in the United States continues to prove the wealth of talent that exists on the continent. Noah?s role will in many ways serve as platform to showcase this.
Well, he is easy on the eyes After a long day, there is nothing better than tuning in to late night television and seeing Noah?s handsome face. Yes, according to the twitter verse, this in and of itself is a necessary qualification, and we couldn’t agree more!
