The All Things Ankara Ball — “Come Dry, Leave Wet”
All things fascinating will be going down on Saturday, October 17 at the Martin’s Camelot Embassy Ballroom in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to celebrate Nigeria’s 55th Independence Day. The inaugural event will feature some of this year’s honorees, Jessica Chibueze and Jidenna?Mobisson, who will be recognized as Nigerian Renaissance Ambassadors.
The event will be hosted by All Things Ankara, self-described as the number one destination for African Print Fashion and?an international movement of Ankara Print Inspired Creatives & Enthusiasts who create visual art and collaborate on fashion productions such as photo and video editorials, campaigns & events. The Nigerian renaissance theme is inspired by a merge of the French?renaissance and Nigerian-African aesthetics.
With a rather catchy slogan, a phrase derived from a social club co-founded by Jidenna, guests are expected come dry, dressed to the nines in formal Ankara print attire, have a fabulous time (you know how it gets on the dance floor!) and leave wet, sweating out their clothes.
And nothing celebrates the Nigerian and African culture at large more than a unique and creative celebration of?the beauty of one’s heritage. “Our goal with this theme is to display, expose and educate the public and the world to the rich culture of a Nigerian renaissance man and woman through illuminating Ankara print fashion and vibrant craftsmanship”, reported the event’s press release.
Amen and amen!
