12 Years Later The World Celebrates ‘The Queen Of Salsa’
Celia Cruz, one of the most popular salsa artists of the 20th century would have been 90 years old today.
The multi Grammy winning salsa singer and performer has been described as arguably the best known and most influential female figure in the history of Cuban music.
Cruz was born into a working class family in Havana, Cuba and grew up under the musical influences of early Cuban artists like Fernando Collazo, Pablo Quevedo & Arsenio Rodr?guez and also studied Yoruba songs.
Cruz and her husband, Pedro Knight moved to the United States in the sixties where she made a name for herself and established an amazing legacy.? She is known for her hits ‘ La Vida Es Un Carnaval’ and ‘La Negra tiene Tumbao’.
